Magazine Holder

Recently I acquired this green basket at Target.  It was a dollar…nuf said.

I had it in my bedroom, just sitting there for week with a few travel size Kleenex, scope and lotion …not the best use for spacious basket. It wasn’t until today that I decided to make good use of it and make it a magazine holder. I wasn’t really a fan of the green color , I wanted a more old vintage…y classic feel to it.

This DIY is pretty simple, I applied about three coats of gesso. Yes, gesso, I had no more white paint and gesso is white...so.. why not! Actually I do recommend using white paint instead. I then applied four coats of black paint; since the white was already dry I dipped the brush a bit into cold water to mix the white and black, and viola.

Thrift Finds

Now that finals are over, and the summer season is full in bloom, i've had some much needed retail therapy aka Thrift shopping!

The glass cups i got for...wait for it...less that 94c each! I saw them and I was in awe, I couldn't believe someone decided to give them away! Well' whoever it was thank you; you made this gal very happy.

I got the shoes today at a near by paytos closet. I was originally there to look for a red white polka doted dress (which i am still in the hunt for!) but when i saw these i had to add them to my shoe collection. A cute flowy dress with these shoes will make a perfect summer outfit!

The purse i got in yet another different thrift store (i love me some thrift shopping), and let me tell you this purse has been with me 24/7.  From the picture it's not quite noticeable, but it's a over the shoulder purse, it's so cute ^_^!

Coconut|Almond Banana Bread

Maybe it’s because every time i take a sniff of my my coconut milk serum i get the urge to eat it, or maybe because there was an abundant amount of ripe bananas dominating the counter top, or the way the almonds looked in the kitchen just chilling waiting to be eaten.

Whatever the reason was I now sit here waiting for my coconut-almond banana bread to come out of the oven. I’ve never really thought about mixing these three ingredients  together  but let me just tell you that judging from the smell of it…it’s a match made in heaven.

Recipe take from  here.

Additions

-    1 cup of flaked coconut to the batter and 1.5 cups of coconut to the top (best move ever!)
-   1/2 cup of grinned almond replacing the walnuts.I recommend putting 1/2 to 1 more cup since i  couldn't taste the almonds.
