Cupcake Frenzy: Oreo Edition
So truth be told I may be going through a bit of a cupcake
frenzy. I don’t normally bake cupcakes; I’m more of a cookie/cake kind of gal.
However, due to the hours spent watching and browsing for cupcakes, this may be
changing.
So, a few nights ago I was bored outta my mind and was doing
some cupcake hunting and bumped into this. I loved the idea of stuffing
buttercream and Oreo crumbs into the middle as a filling. I ended up baking
them on Saturday night just in time for my Dad’s surprise dinner .Needless to
say it was a hit at home.
As you can see the filling is a bit... no a lot more darker than the original picture recipe. Rather than mixing in 3 tbs into the 2cups of buttercream frosting i added all of it....yeah. But i mean you can't go wrong with adding more Oreos. You just absolutely can't.

P.S is it just me or do they look like panda cupcakes in the first picture?

DIY: Birds nest necklace
I was just in love with this DIY Kinsey shared in her blog (which is amazing!). As soon as I saw it I went to Hobby Lobby to buy the supplies and came out with this.
This necklace is my go-to accessory when I need that pop. I've found myself often pairing it with simple black or solid tees and skinnies. Surprisingly, I have yet to pair it with a dress..I should change that. Definitely.
On a completely different note I've been looking for new summer reads. I've gone to local books stores and find myself being overwhelmed so many books I can never choose one. It's like i want to buy all of them, but then i don't, silly. Right now I'm reading harry potter series which are awesome but I want to have some other good reads in hand after I'm done.Any suggestions?

Cupcake Bliss
I Love cupcakes. Whats not to love, right? You got the moist fluffy cupcake, and then the sweet savory icing decor on top... ( Runs to get a second cupcake).
Today, I dedicated my whole Thursday to making these sweet treats. It took one failed batter, and two trips to the grocery store to get 'em right. Nonetheless, I had fun..unntilll I finished and saw the mess I left over. Ah the dreaded kitchen mess.
I used two recipes for two different batches. They tasted the same. At lest for me.You can find them here and here .
As for the icing i opted to store- bought butter cream frosting...BUT i did tweak it a bit.
The icing it self seemed too think for me so I whipped it for about 1-2 minutes... and then I realized they sell whipped icing...Anyways, i added 1/8 tsp of vanilla extract and 1 tsp of ground cinnamon.
Then the fun part: decorating the cupcakes. You can't go wrong, with that. I used chocolate, pink and blue sprinkles. Sliced strawberries, and my favorite recces cups.

Art: Poverty Series
I started painting and drawing about two years ago give or take. It wasn't like i was completely new to it, (i've always been the girl who doodled around her class notes) but it was around this time that i started investing more time and money in that.
I really liked splattering paint into blank canvases and creating something . But i wanted to get better and have a better knowledge, so i enrolled into a drawing course for my performing arts credit....best move ever. I got so much from it, learned of different mediums and was challenged with fun projects.
These drawings were my final project. They're a series focused around poverty. I was inspired when i saw Jan Schor pictures, and used one of his photographs as a center point for the series:

Above is Jan Schor original photography.
I started out with the background wall and added 'Rete Povwete' which means stop poverty in haitian and 'Ke Poze' meaning peace.
In my second piece i did a close up and incorporated the woman from the original photograph into the drawing..Guys the scarf around itself took me four hours to finish!
(Children taken from another photography, unfortunately i can't find the link to it)
This last piece was rushed, as you can tell. But i'm satisfied with the emotions in the little kids faces. I think this best replicates my intentions when doing these series.
I hope to post more of my pieces in the future!
P.S All drawings were done with graphite pencil,mostly 6B, 4B and 8B.
